At Eczema-Doc we primarily use the Aron Regimen® to control and manage eczema related symptoms.

We have found the Aron Regimen® to be highly successful at treating those patients whose symptoms are unable to be managed with conventional treatment regimes.

Eczema is a chronic ongoing condition that will vary in intensity and so our treatment regimes may well have to change over time to reflect this.

There are a wide variety of other treatments available for eczema, a summary of which is found below:

Emollient moisturisers - these can come in both cream and ointment forms. They are typically applied to maintain moisture within the skin and help protect the skin barrier. Each formulation has it's own chemical composition and some patients may react or be allergic to certain types of moisturisers.

Topical steroids - these again come in varying strengths and can be found in both cream and ointment forms. They are applied topically on the skin to downgrade inflammation. They can vary from mild strength (e.g. hydrocortisone) , moderate strength (eumovate), potent strength (elocon, betnovate) or very potent (dermovate).

There are other treatments available and these are prescribed usually by specialists such as:

Topical calcineurin inhibitors (e.g. pimecrolimus and tacrolimus)

High dose oral steroids (e.g. prednisolone)

Oral immune suppressant medications (e.g. azathioprine, ciclosporin and methotrexate

Biological agents (e.g. dupilumab, baricitinib)

These medications work at suppressing the inflammatory response associated with eczema at the skin level. There are also other techniques/treatments that may also assist in the treatment of eczema:

Bandages or wet wraps
Phototherapy – ultraviolet (UV) light that reduces inflammation
